I spoke with I Love New York fan favorite Jason “Heat” Rosell over the phone several months ago before he left the country to film I Love Money, VH1’s first-ever challenge show. At the the time, he seemed eager to hit the road and show off more of his wild personality on new show.
Did he? Only VH1 producers and contract-bound contestants have the real answers as to what went down in sunny Mexico. As for the rest of us, we will only begin to uncover the real Heat when I Love Money premiers July 13.
What is your most outrageous moment caught on tape?
Dancing in a Speedo in front of 28,000 women is pretty outrageous to me — from doing somersaults to having a choreographed dance. It’s something I would have never imaged myself doing two years ago.
And what were you doing two years ago?
I was just graduating college with my fourth degree, and I was an actor.
Your fourth degree!?
Yep. My first one was an Associates of Science in International Marketing Management, the next was an Associates of Science in Advertisings, my third was my AA and the fourth is my Bachelor of Science in Public Relations.
You made appearances on Gilmore Girls and Entourage before being cast in I Love New York. Did being an actor help you at all in getting picked?
No, I did not get cast due to my acting. It was based on my personality.
What would your life be like without I Love New York?
I would continue being an actor. The world didn’t get to see the true Jason on I Love New York. They probably saw about 30 to 40 percent. I’m definitely more outgoing than people have seen … a little bit more crazy, a little bit more daring.
I held back a lot because I was one of the very few guys who actually was a working actor, and I did not want that to hurt me in the future for my acting career. Hence the reason I didn’t make it all the way to the end — because I didn’t give the producers what they wanted when it came down to interviews or interactions with other individuals.
What were they looking for?
I had sex appeal to keep me in the house. I had a little bit of funny moments — now that’s the reason why I only made it half way. If there was more drama … I was very peaceful with everyone: Nobody talked shit about me; I didn’t talk shit about anybody. I was just kind of chill, you know what I mean?
All I can say for this next show is get ready. Unless something really bad occurs, let’s just say, it’s gonna be good!
What can you tell us about this new project?
I can’t. All I can tell you is that I’m going to be out of the country. It’s going to be a show that has a lot of crazy personalities from VH1, and it’s going to air this summer.
You can’t even say what country you’ll be in?
I don’t even know yet. That’s the thing about reality. I find out the day I get the itinerary.
What reality show would you love to go on?
Based on what I’ve seen, maybe Celebrity Apprentice.
Have you seen the new season?
I’ve watched, like, one episode, and I thought it was pretty invigorating. I’m so busy, I don’t have time to watch a lot of TV. I could totally picture myself in it, though, because I have such a strong background in sales and people skills.
That’s another reason why my career holds higher than most people in my position — because I didn’t sit around and take advantage of what little fame I got out of it. I became really proactive and asked “what can I do to better myself and my role as an entertainer slash actor?”
If you could chat with one celeb, who would it be?
I would have to say Denzel Washington. He’s an incredible actor. The fact that he can play so many different roles and nail them is surreal. I admire his work so much.
As far as female artists go, I would have to say Shakira. She’s very powerful and knows how to work industry by using her looks and sex appeal but still comes off as classy.
What question would you ask them? And you can’t ask Shakira on a date…
No, I wouldn’t ask Shakira on a date because she is not my type.
My question though would be: Did your family support you with your career through the good and the bad?
And what’s your latest obsession?
I would have to say cooking. I love cooking, like, crazy meals; I really get into it.
What was the last thing you cooked?
A marinated chicken that had the inside of it roasted with green peppers, red peppers, Brie cheese, grapes and a special kind of corn bread flaked on top of it, which was low-fat of course, with white wine mixed with sangria, which is excellent.
Oh, that sounds sooo good! Is there anything else you’d like your fans to know about you?
I’m European and Latin — I’m from Spain and Puerto Rico — and that’s something I like to put out there in the world because there’s really few people out there with my nationality. You’re kind of getting the best of both worlds, like, Europeans, badda boom badda bing, and if you like a little Latin, hey mami, whaddya want?
All I can say is that I’m a guy with a head on my shoulders. I’ve definitely got things to back me up if, god forbid, I got into an accident and didn’t have my looks anymore, I think I’d still live a good life.
Like I said earlier, my versatility is something that will and is helping me out in this industry because in terms of acting and entertainment you can’t put just a label on me. A lot of models, a lot of entertainers, actors they are type cast and can only have one or two ways they can go. Whereas for me, I have so many different … from Greek to Italian to Spanish … so it’s just a never-ending cycle. My opportunities are a lot bigger than your average actor that is limited.

A series of blog posts on VH1’s blog disclosed the full cast list of the new challenge show, I Love Money. The premise is similar to the other dating shows, but instead of competing for former rock-rap stars, the cast battles it out for dollar bills. A lot of dollar bills. $250,000 to be exact.
Much like we reported in early April, the cast list proves that Wikipedia can sometimes actually be pretty accurate.
The only noticeable big mistake was the listing of Kristy Joe from Rock of Love 2’s first season. This is probably because, as sources reveal exclusively to us, she will be on another VH1 show. It’s good to see the network isn’t allowing its celeb-reality stars stray too far.
Also missing is Bootz from Flavor of Love 2, Sinceer, Thing 1 and Thing 2 all from Flavor of Love 3.

Now the premier date is July 7? Maybe that’s still the date of the casting special. Do note that the Web site www.ilovemoney.vh1.com isn’t up yet. Can’t wait!!
Remember last week when we were pouting and praying for VH1 to finally confirm the rumored I Love Money: Challenge Show?
Well, a nice reporter from Variety took the time to figure it out. He got confirmation from a VH1 spokesman that this was indeed going to be a Flavor of Love spin-off (though the cast will contain members from Rock of Love and I Love New York). It’s set to premiere July 13 with a casting special on July 6. Read more about it here.
They should have thrown A Shot at Love in there while they were at it. We’re sure the FOL bitches hate lesbians more than they hate girls with class (and that excludes Pumkin, of course!).
What’s funny is the Variety reporter leads his story with how I Love Money “dispenses with the fiction that anyone involved with the show is looking for romance.”
True. However, we think that these dating show veterans will use their bodies and brains in the same way. Because they’re still competing for something — whether it be Bret Michaels’ old balls or a ginormous treasure chest filled with dollar bills.
Anywho, let the count down to Mexican money-hungry orgies begin!
The Internets have been a-buzzing about a possible new VH1 show that might top all the celeb-reality out there.
According to Wikipedia (which means some of what we tell you might not be 100 percent accurate), I Love Money: Challenge Show can be compared to Real World/Road Rules Challenges in which cast members from all seasons of Flavor of Love, Rock of Love and I Love New York compete for $100,000 in Mexico. Although this show has not been officially announced, it has been confirmed by several sources (one being our own common sense).
The cast list for the show has been updated on Wikipedia to now include Rock of Love 2’s Kristy Joe. Here’s a screen shot of the list (taken at 4/21/08, 3:44 p.m. PST):
Now, you might say, well aren’t you in constant contact with some of these fools? Yes, we are, but all of them, including Megan, Pumkin and Heat, have remained completely silent on this subject. However since we do keep tabs on CFC celebrities, we noticed that many of these folks disappeared for a month either out of the country or to Mexico, where the alleged show was filmed.
Observe …
VH1, please just officially announce this show so we can put our party hat on and do a little dance because it’s gonna blow all the others away!!!
We sent our producer Lex to Jason “Heat” Rosell’s monster bash at Area last night, and he had a knock-out time partying with Heat and all the reality stars including Rock of Love’s Daisy De La Hoya, Brandi C. and Krista.
